Services to Courts and Jails

Forensic Mental Health Services, a program of Behavioral Health Network, Inc., provides mental health expertise to the Courts in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties. We also provide services to the Men's and Woman's jail in Hampden County.  Services are provided to both adult and juvenile populations.

Services to District and Superior Courts

• Competency to Stand Trial Evaluations
• Criminal Responsibility Evaluations
• Aid in Sentencing Evaluations
• Probationers' need for Treatment
• Evaluations for Civil Commitment of Mentally Ill Person
• Consultation and Training to Courts and Probation Departments
• Expert Witness Testimony
• Serve as liason between the Criminal Justice System and the Mental Health System, including public and private hospitals and community agencies.

• Treatment Services are provided in those cases where other community services are not available/appropriate

In addition, the court clinic staff facilitates groups for adolescents and provides training to doctoral and masters level students.

Services to Jails

• Crisis Interventions
• Assessment of Inmates
• Consultation and Training to Correctional and Medical Staff
• Evaluation of need for inpatient hospitalization
• Discharge Planning for DMH eligible individuals

Services include the Evaluation and Stabilization Unit, which provides psychiatric inpatient and respite levels of care to individuals incarcerated.
